Local History Book Talk!

Inspired by the tragedy and railroad history of the 1910 Wellington Train Disaster in Stevens Pass Skagit Valley Author, Martin Burwash has written a fascinating novel - "Vis Major" based around the events & the subsequent trials. The latin legal term Vis Major means "A superior force; the term is used in civil cases to denote an
act of God. A loss vis major results from natural causes, such as a hurricane,
tornado, or earthquake, and without the intervention of human beings. It is a
loss that could not have been prevented by diligence or by having taken
precautions." (Your Dictionary.com)
