Hello, everyone.

The GF Historical Museum is still located at http://www.gfhistory.org, but
it has a whole new look. And new features! We would love to get your
comments. You can submit them on our new Questions and Comments page.

Of possible interest, we are using Google Sites as our platform and hosting
all of the content using a free educational subscription to Google Apps, a
set of applications designed for schools and non-profits to communicate and
collaborate without having to install software on everyone's computer. All
someone needs is an Internet connection and a browser.

I would be happy to talk with anyone at other museums or organizations about
Google Apps and other options for so-called "cloud" computing. One big
advantage is that any staff or volunteer given editing access to a web site
or a document can work on it on any computer; all changes any person makes
in one session are saved in an archive version so it becomes easy to revert
to an old version if needed. Revisions are also marked so someone can see
exactly what has been changed.

We have just begun to tape the new abilities Google Apps gives us.
