Greetings All,

Just a quick note to let everyone know that this weekend state legislators
will be holding in-district Town Hall Meetings. This represents a great
opportunity to let elected officials know how important state programs
related to heritage and historic preservation are to our communities.

A concise list of meeting times and locations for Democrats can be found at:

http://hdcadvance.blogspot.com/2011/03/been-waiting-for-town-hall-saturday.html

For Republican meeting times, the following websites have information:

House Republican Caucus <http://www.houserepublicans.wa.gov/>

Senate Republican Caucus <http://www.senaterepublicans.wa.gov/>

More information may be found about Town Hall schedules at the individual
websites for each legislator, available at:
http://www.leg.wa.gov/pages/home.aspx.

Of primary concern is support for continued funding for the Historic County
Courthouse and Heritage Barn grant programs (both programs of the Department
of Archaeology & Historic Preservation), along with support for the Heritage
Capital Projects Fund and Building for the Arts, both of which provide
important sources of funding for improvements to buildings that house
heritage programming (many of which are historic buildings). Funding for
these grant programs comes from the Capital Budget and does not compete with
general operating funds. Attached are one-page info sheets on the
courthouse and barn programs that can be left behind for legislators. Other
issues related to heritage are support for keeping both the Washington State
History Museum in Tacoma and the Museum of Arts & Culture in Spokane open
for visitation.

And to clarify, this is not a request for any CLG representatives to speak
on behalf of a jurisdiction or local government – this is information being
sent to state residents with an interest in preservation. With that in
mind, I would ask that you forward this email to your respective citizen
preservation commissions in the event that they would like to support
heritage issues at this weekend’s meetings.

Thank for your continued support of historic preservation-related issues and
for the work that you all do!

Sincerely,

Chris
