Northwest Heritage Resources is pleased to present a concert and school
program of

*Scottish traditional music in Index on Friday, October 7, 2011 in
partnership with the Index Historical Society*. The concert, a benefit for
the Index Museum, is scheduled for 7:00 pm at The River House in Index,
corner of 5th and A St., and will be preceded by a program at the Index
School the afternoon of October 7th. Evening admission is by donation of any
amount at the door.

The concert and school program will feature Scottish traditional fiddler
Ryan McKasson, who will be joined by Dave Bartley on guitar. McKasson is a
talented fiddler who, in 1996, was the youngest musician to win the National
Scottish Fiddle Championship. In 2004 he and his sister Cali formed the
band, The McKassons, and since 2002 he’s been the fiddler for reknowned
contra dance band, The Syncopaths. McKasson has taught at numerous fiddle
schools and camps, including the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, Boston Harbor
Scottish Fiddling School and Washington state’s Festival of American Fiddle
Tunes, and has performed at concert halls and folk venues throughout the
U.S. He has also recorded with well known Scottish fiddlers Hanneke Cassel
and Alasdair Fraser. Dave Bartley has performed traditional Celtic and
Balkan music and joined other World music ensembles, but is just as
comfortable playing classical music with the Seattle Symphony and Opera, as
well as jazz, rock, swing, and cabaret music.

This benefit concert is funded in part by Northwest Heritage Resources and
the National Endowment for the Arts.
