*Three New Cultural Heritage Audio Tour Guides available **to different
sections of the Cascade Loop Scenic Highway***

** **

Northwest Heritage Resources announces the publication of three new
cultural heritage audio tour guides for the Cascade Loop Scenic Highway: 1)
one for the southern half, titled, *Cascade Loop Heritage Tour - South
(Everett/Mukilteo to Wenatchee/Entiat); *2) one to the northern half,
titled, *Cascade Loop Heritage Tour – North (Anacortes via North Cascades
National Park to Chelan)*; and 2) one for Whidbey Island, titled, *Whidbey
Island: Cascade Loop Heritage Tour – West*.****

 ****

The guides are a unique approach to the Cascade Loop Scenic Highway, as
they present the grass roots culture of the region - what you would
discover if you took the time to explore the local cultural landscape. The
audio tour guides come with CDs and a guide book (in the case of *Cascade
Loop Heritage Tour – South*) or liner notes that include maps, text, and
photos. They feature the cultural heritage, stories, folk poetry and
traditional music of the people who live along the Cascade Loop Scenic
Highway.

** **

In the audio part of this tour you will hear the voices of the local people
who live along the Cascade Loop, telling some of the story of their life as
a crop farmer, fruit orchardist, logger, boat builder, fisherman and
netmaker, dairy farmer, forest service employee, traditional craftsperson,
vintner, smokejumper, woodworker, horsepacker, and others. People will
share their local history and talk about special places and things of
interest. You'll hear Norwegian and Dutch musical traditions from Whidbey
Island, railroad poet from Snohomish, Native American Coast Salish songs,
Vietnamese music from Everett, Croatian-American music from Anacortes,
Hispanic music from Wenatchee and the Skagit Valley, bluegrass music from
Skykomish, and towns along the Skagit River and in the Methow Valley, and
songs you might hear on a horsepacking adventure.

More information about the new Cascade Loop tour guide and how to order one
can be found on the website: www.washingtonfolkarts.com. The guides are
