“Witnesses to the Revolution”
Two Founding Mothers retell the events leading up to their husbands'
decisions to vote for American Independence.
On July 2, 1776, Pennsylvania delegate John Morton cast the deciding vote
for American independence. He died soon after labeled as a traitor by his
neighbors. Also, present amongst the delegates was John Adams, of
Massachusetts, who later served as the second president of the United
In a dramatic living history portrayal, the stories of these courageous
signers of the Declaration of Independence is told by their wives, Anne
Justis Morton and Abigail Adams. This historic account is based on original
letters and documents. Anne Justis Morton is portrayed by Margie Wilson her
actual descendant. Abigail Adams is portrayed by Barbara Johnson, a great
admirer of the remarkable woman who was wife of the second president and
mother of the sixth.
Both performers are members of the Skagit Valley Genealogical Society
This living history program is a new addition to the 2012 Loggerodeo and
takes place on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Sedro-Woolley Senior Center,
715 Pacific Ave., Sedro-Woolley, WA.
Admission is by suggested donation of $5/person, $12 for families. The time
