Joinus in a hands-on workshop to save endangered moving image collections and learn about audiovisual archiving and preservation! Community archiving is a process whereby moving image specialists are paired with community members to conduct basic processing, cataloging and inspection of a moving image collection.
Attendees will become familiar with identification, condition assessment and care of Super8, 16mm and 35mm film and an array of videotape formats. Hands-on
work will be interspersed with presentations, including advice about digitization for preservation and access. All are welcome; cultural heritage organizations
and independent producers/artists are particularly encouraged to attend. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Independent Media Interest Group and the
Diversity Committee of the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA).    AMIA is holding its annual conference Dec. 4-7 in Seattle.
