Bigger, Better and Back by Popular Demand
Group Process, Group Decisions UNSTUCK!
with Barbara Davis, Consultant, Your Best Thinking
This mini workshop was so popular last year, we’ve been asked to expand it
and bring it back for a half-day session. Please join us for this
interactive discussion on how to move a group along and get to the
decisions you need to make. Whether you’re working with staff or a board of
directors, group dynamics can be a challenge. We strive to have people
involved yet we want to make fast decisions. This workshop is idea for
staff or board members who often lead groups or committee discussion.
Friday, March 25th from 9 a.m. – Noon in Marysville. The location is TBD

We will cover some of the following:
Understanding the dynamics of participatory decision-making
How getting stuck can lead to creative decisions
Using facilitative listening skills to promote meaningful discussions
Getting to consensus – how does that work?
Tips and tools for planning a successful meeting


New…Volunteer Management Training Series
With Michelle M. Morris, Director of the Seafair Foundation.
This is a new, three-part series focusing on the essentials of volunteer
management for small or understaffed nonprofits. Each session covers the
“must-haves” of volunteer management from the beginning and includes time
to share and discuss with peers. Participants may attend the series,
however, the sessions are designed to be offered independently. A complete
handbook and template materials will be provided in each session. Please

Session 1 – TOPIC: Planning. Participants will learn how to get started
with a volunteer program including volunteer motivation, job descriptions,
risk management, codes of conduct, and liability. Thursday, April 14th from
8:30 am. – 12:30 p.m. in Lynnwood TBD.
Session 2 –TOPICS: Recruitment & Screening, Orientation & Training. Learn
about vetting processes, ideas for onboarding and how to use innovative
recruitment techniques. Friday, June 17th from 8:30 am. – 12:30 p.m. in
Marysville TBD.
Session 3 – TOPICS: Supervision & Evaluation. Discuss the trickier elements
of guidance, supervision and evaluation. Learn some low-cost, recognition
strategies to say thanks. Tuesday, August 23rd from 8:30 am. – 12:30 p.m.
in Lynnwood TBD.

Free Profile Picture Day. A quality profile picture is essential for social
media accounts.  Have three to five professional pictures taken and saved
to your flash drive by Samuel Lee, photographer for Super Charge Marketing.
Digital Photo Lab. Learn basic image editing techniques using GIMP. Please
bring photos from your flash drive.
Gadget Gallery. Explore the Creative Tech Center. Learn about digitizing
photos, negatives and slides. Discover the potential of Adobe Creative
Suite using our iMacs.

Applications and grant criteria can be found on the Community Foundation

The Community Foundation of Snohomish County facilitates a variety of free
workshops for nonprofits in Snohomish County. The goal is to provide free
opportunities for nonprofits to come together to share, learn and
collaborate around local issues. These programs are provided through the
