Subject: Boards on Fire Program --Back by Popular Demand
To: info at snocoheritage.org

*Community Foundation of Snohomish County*

*The Boards on Fire Cohort Program in 2017...**Back by popular demand!*

The Community Foundation is offering a program built on the work of
consultant Susan Howlett and her blockbuster publication *Boards on Fire:
Inspiring Leaders to Raise Money Joyfully.* The program teaches small,
systemic changes that remove barriers to fundraising and clarifies
expectations for staff and the board. The program is guided by Susan, a
seasoned facilitator and trainer. It includes peer support and
opportunities to learn in a “community of practice” over the course of a
year *with nine other nonprofit agencies.* Each organization may send* a
team of 3-4 participants* who will bring ideas back to their boards to test
and try. At least one executive staff member and at least one board member
are required for participation. *An Application of Interest is due by March
3, 2017. *

*Ideal Participants: *Nonprofits and boards that are already functioning
well, but could use a little bit of a push to really excel. Nonprofits
should not be in the middle of major leadership changes or already
committed to a major campaign or program launch. Participants will be asked
to share their learning and insights amongst the cohort during meetings and
group work.

*Resource Expectations:*

   - *Each agency will be asked to contribute $250 towards the total cost
of the program. *The Community Foundation will subsidize the remaining
cost for your agency to participate through the generosity of local donors
and corporations who believe in supporting the work of the nonprofit sector.
   - Each nonprofit will also be asked to directly purchase the *Boards on
Fire* book for their participants. $20.

*Program Participation & Expectations in 2017:*

   - *4 half-day workshops* from 8 a.m. - Noon on Fridays in Marysville.
   (Full Team Required)
      1. April 7th
      2. June 2nd
      3. September 15th
      4. November 3rd
   - *3 conference calls (1 hour)*. At least one member of each team will
be required to participate in these follow up calls. Participation by the
full team is optional. The expectation is that your team communicate
amongst one another to bring the workshop and conference call ideas to your
   full board and staff.
   - *E**nd-of-session evaluation and feedback*. Estimated at 1 hour.
